Opal Janet Ford, 86, of Bethany, OK , a loving wife and mother went to be with our Lord and Savior on Oct. 12, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital after a long struggle with stroke and dementia. She was born on April 23, 1925 to John and Alice (Davis) Williams in Forrest, Texas. She was raised in Cuero and Normangee, Texas. She was the 7th child of 13 siblings. She preceded in death before her sisters, Ethel Gafford; Ann Williams; Hazel Oliveros; Dorthy Carlson; and Bernice Thompkins; her two brothers, Hoy and Cecil Williams. She graduated in 1942 from Cuero High School. She then met Henry Ford a former Marine and Golden Gloves champ on a blind date. They soon married on March 11, 1946 and made their home in Bethany, OK. She enjoyed being a mom and housewife while Henry pursued careers in homebuilding, politics and real estate. They raised a wonderful family of 3 boys and 2 girls. After the kids were grown and out of the house, Janet worked in management for C.R. Anthony Co. for 8 years. She resigned, entered nursing school in 1982 at Francis Tuttle Vo-Tech, graduating in 1983 at the tender age of 59. She had many interest including cooking, Affair of the Heart and loved being with her grandchildren. She loved her work as a nurse at Deaconess Hospital until she retired at the age of 75. Many of the nurses and staff can still recall seeing her looking beautiful in her stiff freshly starched white uniform and nurses cap, making rounds. She and Henry were married 55 years until his passing in 2001. Some beloved memories of hers included her gold 1973 Ford Fastback Mustang that was her daily driver for 30 years, her Texas heritage and her love of antiques. She was known for her great cooking, her red hair, her smile, her wit, her strong work ethic, her caring way of nursing and her loving devotion to her family. She is now reunited in heaven with her husband Henry, grandson John Michael Wilson, her parents, sisters Ethel Gafford, Ann Williams, Hazel Oliveros, Dorthy Carlson and Bernice Thompkins and brothers Hoy Williams and Cecil Williams. Janet leaves a legacy of love to her 4 surviving children, Marcialen Purdum and her husband Don, Henry Ford Jr., G. Michael Ford, Deborah Little and her husband Aaron and Clay Ford; grandchildren Jared Wilson, Piper Hall and her husband Scott, Rick Ford, Dustin Ford and his wife Melissa, Blake Little, Austin Little, and Hannah Little; great-grandchildren Bailey, Scarlett and Grayson Hall and Zoey Ford; sisters Billie Spreen, Lois Hologa, Marie Powell; brothers Clyde and James Williams; sister-in-law Ina Jo and many numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
