Odd K. Johnsen, 90, died September 16, 2009. He was born June 9, 1919 in Troms, Norway to Hjalmar and Inga (Knutsen) Johnsen. He trained as a master painter in Norway and worked as a paint contractor. He began ski jumping at age 3 and eventually became the ski jumping champion of northern Norway. After coming to America in 1953, he coached one of the first soccer teams in Oklahoma City, helped start the Oklahoma City Ski Club, and was a charter member of the Scandinavian Club of Oklahoma. Preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings, he is survived by his long-time companion, Peggy Ameringer; sons John Olav, David and wife Lea; daughter Kristin Noble and husband John; granddaughter Lauren Hull; and sister Ruth Johansen of Norway.
