Norma Jeane Burton Ivey, 97, died on February 13, 2025, in Harrah, Oklahoma. She was born December 30, 1927 in Washington, Oklahoma, to Charles Gordon Burton and Lottie Fox Burton. She married Robert Lee Ivey on August 6, 1948, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Norma retired from Southwest Title in about 1995. Before that she worked for American First Abstract and Title Company. Beginning when she was only 16, Norma proudly supported the war effort during World War II, working as a civilian at Tinker Air Force Base from 1944 until well after the war.
Norma was an expert seamstress, enjoyed baking and decorating wedding cakes, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was an Oklahoma City Thunder fan and booster of all things Oklahoma, where she lived her entire life. She was a member of Central Seventh-day Adventist Church in Oklahoma City for about 65 years before moving to Summit Ridge Retirement Community in Harrah, Oklahoma, in 2014. She loved holidays with family and was a devoted daughter, wife, parent, and grandparent.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and beloved spouse of 70 years, Robert Ivey.
She is survived by two children; Gary Lee Ivey and wife Laura "Toni" Sykes Ivey, Sherri Ivey Dart and husband G. Charles "Chuck" Dart, Jr.; grandchildren, Sharee Ivey Fox and husband Christian Michael Fox, G. Charles "Chad" Dart, III, and Krystal "Kristi" Dart Herrmann and husband Brandon Charles Herrmann; and great-grandchildren, Maiya Elizabeth Fox, Elijah Lee Fox, Micah Charles Herrmann and Naomi Brooke Herrmann; plus many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed.
Viewing will be Tuesday, March 4, 10:00 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 4, 11:00 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
