Norma Joyce Garrison, 96, died July 9, 2026, in Arlington, Texas. She was born on December 31, 1929, in Great Falls, Montana to the late Lewis M. and Emma (Hanska) Taborek. After graduating from Yukon High School in 1948, she lived most of her adult life in Oklahoma City before spending her later years in Texas with her family. She enjoyed showing her Boston Terriers at dog shows, traveling through the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado, and boating on Lake Texoma.

Norma is survived by her son, David K. Mellendorf and his wife Damayani of Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren, Brandon, Jonathan, and Jennifer Mellendorf.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Garrison; her older son, Michael W. Freels; her parents; and her sister, Gladys I. Young.

A service to celebrate Norma's life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 16 at Mercer-Adams Chapel. Viewing will take place prior to the service, beginning at 10:00am.
