Nina Agnes Brindle McClure entered the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 22, 2024. Nina was born on January 16, 1921, in Hill City, KS to John D. Brindle and Esther A. Cheney Brindle. She was the second born of seven children.
Nina recalled when younger siblings were born. At that time the doctor came to the house for the births. She assisted her father in preparing meals. She also remembered the fun the Brindle children had playing together.
Nina married Raymond Lee McClure on September 20, 1942. They met at a roller-skating rink where they enjoyed dancing together on roller skates. After marrying, they lived on a farm near Simpson, KS for a brief time before moving to a farm close to Courtland. After a fire burned the house in Courtland, they moved to a farm near Formosa, KS in Jewell County, KS, where they were long time residents.
While living in Kansas, Nina was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Montrose, KS. She taught children's Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School each summer.
Nina enjoyed cooking and playing games with family and friends. She shared her mother's love of gardening flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. She met regularly with a local women's club and often entertained family and friends. Nina also enjoyed spending time with relatives and friends who lived throughout the U.S. She made many friends in her lifetime.
After moving to Oklahoma, Nina became a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, OK. She loved being close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nina is survived by her children, Warren L. McClure, Jeanette R. Cromer, and Victoria J. Harsh; granddaughter, JoLee McClure Montelius; grandson, Brent A. McClure Sr. and wife Trisha A. McClure; great-grandson, Brent A. McClure Jr.; step great-grandson, Mayson B. Coble; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, John & Esther Brindle; Raymond's parents, Joseph and Goldie McClure; her five sisters and one brother, Doris Brindle Corbin, Daphne Brindle Rushing, Gladys Brindle Ross, Carol Brindle Johnson, John (Jack) Brindle and Leonore Brindle Gordanier; and her son-in-law Leo Cromer.
Memorial services at Mercer-Adams Chapel will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, April 12.
