Nettie Esther (Troub) Rice, 99, of Spanish Cove Retirement Village in Yukon, OK, passed to her heavenly reward Friday, July 8, 2011. She was born March 23, 1912, in rural Carnegie, OK, to Christian and Anna (Daub) Troub. She married Frank Lee Rice on August 28, 1937. As a junior in high school, Nettie moved to Bethany, OK to attend Bethany-Peniel Academy, graduating in 1929. Nettie graduated from Bethany-Peniel College (now Southern Nazarene University) in 1933. After graduation she began teaching in Hobart, Oklahoma, first in high school and then elementary. Nettie was a homemaker, dedicated wife and mother. Throughout her life she was a faithful member and leader in Nazarene Churches in every community in which she lived: Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. When moving to Oklahoma City in 1981, Nettie became active in the Lake View Park Church of the Nazarene and later joined Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Nettie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank, on Feb. 25, 2001; and all of her siblings. Survivors include her children, Justin C. and wife, Phyllis, of Nashville, TN, Linda K. (Wright ) and husband, Les, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Janice R. (Long) and husband, Paul, of Salina, KS; her grandchildren, Brent Rice and wife, Halina Siwolop, of Los Angeles, CA, Kristen (Rice) and husband, John Aarhus, of Vancouver, WA, Gina Rice and husband, Greg Sims, of Atlanda, GA, Shellene (Wright) and husband , Brad Wilson of Richmond, TX, Monica (Wright) and husband, Eric Sanderson, and Darren Wright and wife, Ashlea, all of Oklahoma City, OK, Danae (Wright) and husband, Layne Jacobs, of Boston, MA, Jereme Long and wife, Chloe, of Seoul, Korea, and fourteen great-grandchildren who brought her much joy. Number 15, a boy, is to be born in Seoul in September. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dottie Rice, of Bethany, OK, and brother-in-law, John Ed Roberts of Amarillo, TX, and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Friday, 9am-9pm with the family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK 73008. Memorials can be given to the Frank and Nettie Rice Missions Scholarship at Southern Nazarene University, Bethany, OK 73008.
