Nellie Fay (Pendergrass) Futrell entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 19, 2015, at the age of 96 years. Nellie was born on May 17, 1919 in Lindale, Texas, the 5th child of Erskin & Florence Pendergrass. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Lee Futrell of Eufaula, Oklahoma; 4 baby boys; parents; brothers, Elzie Pendergrass and Frank Pendergrass; sisters, Beatrice Huff and husband Frank, Freda Futrell and husband, Jake, Olga Farley and husband Joe Bob, Imogene Westbrook and husband S.L. Nellie leaves behind her daughter, Phyllis A. Poe and husband Jack; grandchildren, David Poe and wife Wendy of Irving, TX, Robin Donwerth and husband Scott of Norman, OK; great grandchildren, David Poe II and wife Sha of Ft. Worth, TX, Whitney Allen and husband T-Jay of Ft. Lewis, Washington, and Taylor Donwerth; great-great granddaughters, Izabella Rose Allen, Brylyn Grace Poe, Emma Rae Allen and Kadence Aubrey Poe. Nellie left us with the love of many nieces and nephews. A very special friend for 95 years, Inez Mickey. Her roommate, Lois Parkman of the Grace Living Center of Norman, OK. Friends from the Oklahoma City Police Department; Friends from her Triad Group; Friends from The Baptist Village Retired Group of Baptist Builders from Integris Baptist Hospital; Her Beloved Friends from TULAKES BAPTIST CHURCH in Bethany, Oklahoma; and all her friends from the Chaplain's Corner of the State of Oklahoma, where she volunteered until her death. All of her new Neighbors at The Willows in Moore. Nellie is a member of the Emmaus Baptist Church and The Sunshine Ladies' Sunday School Class. Nellie was an avid reader of her Bible and Christian Books; she was fantastic at crocheting people's names and framing them as gifts. She made beautiful crocheted items throughout her life. The family would like to acknowledge and give HEARTFELT THANKS to the Grace Living Center of Norman, Oklahoma, its staff, residents and all the volunteers. Also, with much gratitude, our APPRECIATION to the Good Shepherd Hospice and all its compassionate workers who took care of Mother for this past 3 weeks. Viewing will be Sunday, June 21 from 4:00pm-9:00pm with family present from 6:00-8:00pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK.
