Obituary

NELL TAYLOR DOUGHARTY, 83, was lovingly welcomed into the arms of Mr. and Mrs. A. LeRoy Taylor on July 19, 1929. She was the oldest of the four Taylor "Little Women". Nell attended Bethany Public Schools and graduated from Bethany Nazarene College. Her quiet, gentle nature made her a perfect fit for her gregarious, outgoing husband, W.T "Bo" Dougharty. They were married on December 19, 1949. They were the proud parents of Mark, Marilyn and Kent. The couple devoted their lives to furthering the kingdom of God. Bo and Nell pastored Nazarene churches in Texas, Illinois and Florida. When Bo served as a District Superintendent for the Church of the Nazarene, Nell was his constant companion. Nell taught Home Economics and English in nearly every city in which they served. She was adored as a teacher and as a pastor's wife, but mostly as a mother, daughter, sister, aunt and especially as Grandma Nell to her eight grandchildren. Nell leaves a legacy of godliness and selfless living. She put her relationship to God above all else and then her family. She was devoted to serving them and doing for others. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, W.T. Dougharty and her sister, Ann Strong. She is survived by her sons Mark (Dianne) of Memphis, Tennessee, Kent (Mary) of Bethany, Oklahoma, and her daughter Marilyn White (Phil) of Bethany, Oklahoma; sisters Jeanne (Eli) Cypert, Kay (Wayne) Rice; brother-in-laws Roger (Carolyn) Strong, and Pat Dougharty. She leaves eight grandchildren: Angela (Mark) Porada, Kelly (Rob) Anderson, Jeff (Allison) White, Greg White, Emily White, Allison (Steven) Metcalf, Karyn Dougharty, Bryant (Lauren) Dougharty; 10 great-grandchildren; and 7 nieces and nephews. On March 17, 2013 she was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nell's place on earth can never be filled. She will be deeply and grievously missed.
