Nelda Jean Sullivan went peacefully to her heavenly home on November 23, 2016. She was born August 29, 1935 on a farm near Dill City, Oklahoma to Elzia Curtis and Maggie Mae Prescott. She was the third of four children. Nelda spent most of her growing up years on a farm between Burns Flat and Foss in western Oklahoma. While attending second grade at the Foss school, she met Jerry Sullivan, who became the love of her life.
After graduating from Foss High School in 1954, Nelda attended business school in Oklahoma City. Later, she enrolled in beauty college and received her cosmetology license.
On June 2, 1956, Nelda and Jerry were married. They lived in Stillwater while Jerry finished college at OSU, then moved back to the farm. One daughter, Cindy, was added to the family in 1960. They lived in the Burns Flat area until 1973, when they moved to Bethany, Oklahoma.
Nelda was a loving, nurturing wife and mother who consistently put the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed decorating, crafts, sewing and cooking and always made every holiday and birthday a special occasion. She was a member of Bethany First Nazarene Church and until her health began to decline, she took an active role volunteering with the senior adult ministry. In later years, she and Jerry enjoyed traveling and seeing the country in their motor home. Nelda's family was her number one priority and she took special delight in being "Mimi" to her granddaughter, Kelli, and her two great-granddaughters, Kassidy and Kennedy.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Prescott. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry Sullivan; daughter, Cindy Kietzman and husband Chuck; granddaughter, Kelli Kietzman; great-granddaughters, Kassidy Kietzman and Kennedy Wright; brother, Curtis Prescott of Royse City, TX; sister, Verna Schones of Oklahoma City, 4 nephews; Glenn Prescott, Kerry Matherly, Allen Schones and James Prescott; 1 niece, Kym Betz; and 2 special "adopted" daugthters, Janet Carmichael and Frances Reid.
Nelda's family wishes to thank Dr. Glasgow, Dr. Kahn, Dr. Murray and the staff at Integris Hospice House for their tireless commitment to her care.
