Obituary

On December 28, 2009, Nelda S. McGee left her earthly home to live with Jesus for all of eternity. Nelda was born on February 22, 1914 in Cuero, Texas to Mayme and A.K. Shannon. The youngest of four daughters, she moved to Oklahoma City at the age of 6. She attended Central High School where she met her future husband, and the love of her life, Tom McGee Jr. They were married on October 20, 1933. Nelda was a devoted wife and mother to her three children: Mary, Tom and Sally. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 35 years and has been a member of Church of the Servant for the past 31 years. Nelda was an outstanding seamstress and was still doing beautiful counted cross-stitch pieces and needlework in recent years. She won a first place blue ribbon at the Oklahoma County Fair for her needlework at the age of 95. Nelda will always be remembered for her sweet spirit, kind and generous heart, for loving Jesus and her family, and her beautiful smile. She is survived by her three children: daughter, Mary Johnson and husband Charlie, son, Tom McGee III and wife Judy; daughter Sally Riffey and husband Gary; 7 grandchildren: Donna Sowerby and husband Mark, Wesley Barnhill and wife Gena, Mark Walker and wife Jackie, David Walker and wife Kelly, Ryan McGee and wife Rebecca, Thomas Riffey and wife Courtney, and Rebecca Riffey; 10 great-grandchildren: K.C., Kendall, Kieran, Connor, Cori, Madeline, Emily, Addison, Sydney, and Luke; and numerous nieces and nephews. We will miss your smile, gentle spirit and the love you had for all of us. We love you the most! Services will be Thursday, December 31, 10:00am at Church of the Servant.
