Myrna LaFaye Sipes, 91, of Bethany OK, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, with her family near, and joined loved ones in heaven. She was a member of the Nazarene Church for seven decades and was a loving and caring person.

She was born July 22, 1934, and raised in Hugoton, KS, by her parents, W.R. and Rilla (Hanner) Franklin. She graduated from Hugoton High School in 1952. She married Billy Leon Sipes on June 19, 1952, and they moved from Elkhart, KS to Bethany, OK in 1953.

In 1968, Myrna was the first female bus driver hired by Putnam City Schools and she spent 35 years driving. She was also the bookkeeper and parts runner for Sipes Auto, a family auto repair business. Myrna was an avid reader and shared wonderful stories of her life with her family. She was even a matchmaker for one of her grandsons!

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her "handful" of children: Patricia Brill, David (Becki) Sipes, Richard (Linda) Sipes, Pamela (Rick) Barnes, and Robert Sipes; grandchildren, Marc (Erin) Brill, Lori Sipes, Kelli (Jacson Melvin) Sipes, Sheri (Jared) Patterson, Bill (Tosha) Sipes, Melodie (Bryan) Bucher, Zachary Sipes, and Caleb (Madison) Sipes; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation at Mercer-Adams will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10am-8pm with family present from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Metroplex Church of the Nazarene, 10801 N. County Line Road, Yukon, OK.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated for missions at Metroplex Church of the Nazarene.
