Obituary

Myrna Joy Sherburne was born in Casa Grande, Arizona and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from U.S. Grant High School and attended 2 years at Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton, Texas. Myrna worked numerous jobs throughout her life: OMealeys Cafeteria, cocktail waitress, secretarial and legal assistant for several different law firms, Country Music U.S.A, RE/MAX real estate and Right of Way contract work. She also painted several murals around the Oklahoma City area. One is an American Flag on the side of a gas station at 50th & Portland. One is/was on the wall inside a restaurant in the First National Center in Downtown OKC. Its a mural of Jackson Square in New Orleans. Myrna was preceded in death by her mother, Alzana Lay; father, Lowell B. Lay; and brothers, Robert Lay and Larry Lay. She is survived by brother, Lowell Lay (Shirley Jeanne) of Pennsylvania; sister, Nan Hoag of California; daughter, Shannon Pittenger (Steve); 4 grandchildren, Hannah Acosta (Blaine), Emily Hatchett (Micah), and Glade Pittenger, all of Yukon, OK, and Quinn Pittenger (Kristyn) of San Diego, CA; and 4 great-grandchildren. Myrna was a very talented artist. She loved singing and dancing and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to go listen to bands play and taking road trips. She loved BIG Cokes and just simply enjoying life to its fullest. She lived her life one day at a time wearing her "rose colored glasses," always stating, "it will all be ok," no matter how gloomy lifes circumstances could be. She had a quirky sense of humor and a unique view on life that shone through until the very end. She was loved very much and will truly be missed. However, we know we will see her again in heaven someday. The family would like to thank the Integris Hospice House as well as Julia and Shelly, the nurses who took care of Myrna during her last hours on this earth. You are both angels and blessed my mom and my family during this very difficult time. Memorial services will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, July 14 at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK.
