Obituary

Morris Permenter died July 26, 2009 at Integris Baptist Hospital at the age of 84 years. He was born April 30, 1925 in Oklahoma City to Hubert Gordon and Audra Frances (Morris) Permenter. He attended Putnam City schools graduating from Central High School. He was a graduate of Oklahoma City University with a BA degree in Accounting. He served in WWII as an infantryman in the Rome-Arno, Rhineland and Central Europe areas. He received a purple heart after being wounded in Germany. Upon returning from service, he was employed by the Liberty Bank & Trust. He married Helen Maxine Jackman in December, 1953. Their son, John Brian, was born in 1954. In 1957, he joined Arthur Andersen & Co. until 1961 when he joined in on the organization of Community Bank at NW 39th & MacArthur where he advanced from a Vice-President to Chairman & CEO. When Community was sold to First Fidelity Bank in 1996, he then joined First Fidelity as a Director and Business Development Officer. Morris had served as a director and treasurer of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Oklahoma City Art Museum and The Sportsmans Club. He also served as a Trustee of Oklahoma City University and as a member of the Development Committee and Finance Committee. He had also served on the Board of the Education & Employment Ministry and Epworth Villa serving as a member of the Finance Committee. He was a member of The Sportsmans Club and Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Morris was a member of Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Helen Maxine; son, John Brian and his wife Marcia Marie; grandchildren, Charles Matthew and Allison Elizabeth Permenter; niece, Melanie Riker and husband Sam of Memphis, TN; nephew, Drew Jackman of Espanola, NM; and sister-in-law, Jean Jackman of Norman, OK. Memorial services will be Wednesday, July 29, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OCU, Oklahoma Museum of Art, Epworth Villa and the United Methodist Church of Nichols Hills.
