Monta Rose Templin was born March 6, 1940 in Lindsey, Oklahoma to Jefferson Davis Saunders and Emily Faye Saunders.
Monta Rose, 83, passed away on August 21, 2023 in Oklahoma City. She met Jerry Preston Templin on a blind date in January 1958 and got married on February 13, 1959 in El Reno, Oklahoma. Monta Rose and Jerry were married for 62 years until Jerry passed away in August of 2021.
Monta Rose graduated from Putnam City High School in 1959. She raised three children with her husband Jerry. She and Jerry were always supportive of Neal, Darlene and Dales school and career paths. Monta Rose has been the matriarch of the Templin Legacy. She was always outgoing to everyone she met, very sociable. From NASCAR to classic car shows, and everything in between, she always supported Jerry and his passions. She worked with Mary Kay and Creative Memories throughout the years.
As a child, Monta Rose loved to take pictures, and that continued throughout her life which was evident by the amount of pictures she had on her walls and in photo albums. She was a member and an avid supporter of the Red Hat Society, an international social organization for women. Monta Rose loved supporting her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews in their activities. She would call her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids almost weekly, always wanting to support them and know about their lives. Five grandkids were involved in band from middle school to college. Her six grandsons were all Eagle Scouts and three of these grandsons are members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Monta Rose was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, and her husband, Jerry Templin.
She is survived by son, Richard Neal Templin; daughter, Darlene Faye Templin Hale & husband Bruce Eugene Hale; son, Dale Reuben Templin & wife Debbie Marie Thedans Templin; grandkids, Alex Templin & wife Shelby, Ryan Templin & wife Ashley, Mitchell Vogan & wife Linde, Josiah Vogan & wife Whitney, Erin Goto Boyd & husband Ryan, Jacob Templin & wife Ashley, Ethan Templin & wife Taylor, and Abigail Templin; great-grandkids, Jade Templin, Rhett Templin, Gabriel Vogan, Lexi Vogan, Jeremiah Vogan, Ella Vogan, Siler Vogan, Gideon Vogan, Bradley Boyd, Mellie Templin, Eli Templin, and Kapena Templin.
Viewing at Mercer-Adams will be Thursday, 9am-8pm with family present from 6-7pm. Funeral services will be Friday, August 25, 11:00am, at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
