Obituary

Mitchell Lee Thomas, 61, died on January 26, 2023, in OKC, OK. He was born September 5, 1961, in Rantoul, Illinois, to Kenneth Thomas and Peggy Goolsby Thomas. Mitchell graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Dallas, TX in 1980, persevering to graduate after a life changing motorcycle accident while in high school. He moved to OKC with his mother sometime after high school. Mitchells father was in the U.S. Air Force and, as a child, Mitch moved frequently, including internationally, with his family. Mitch enjoyed watching all sports on TV, especially baseball. He was an avid OKC Thunder fan and a Cowboy fan. Mitch was always a car lover; he especially loved his truck. He had a very healthy appetite and enjoyed eating at all you can eat buffets. Mitch was quite a rock & roll music lover. His favorite band was ZZ Top, noting he loved their bass line. Summer concerts at Myriad Gardens were a weekly tradition for Mitchell, immediate family, and his uncle and aunts. Mitch absolutely loved all holidays with family. He adored his family and was a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. Mitch made friends wherever he went. He was a kind man and generous with his time. We will miss the thoughtful birthday cards and letters he wrote to his family members, even to his cousins. Mitch will be remembered for his silly sense of humor. He loved to tease and be teased, giving and getting nuggies from his family always ended in peals of laughter. Mitch loved to make people happy, and he did. Mitch was a dedicated Christian and a devoted member of City Church, OKC, OK. His Bible was well worn. Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Thomas. Survivors include his mother, Peggy Thomas; sister, Kimberly Thomas; nephew, Jeremy Dixon; his aunts; all of his cousins; and his many friends. Mitch was one of a kind and he will be greatly missed. His life was a blessing to all of us. Celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mitchell Thomas to City Church, OKC, OK. . Memorial Service Mercer-Adams Chapel Saturday, February 11, 2023 2:00 PM 3925 N.
