Obituary

Minnie Louise Billings Meador, daughter of James R. Billings and Thelma Irene Rich Billings, was born April 11, 1922 in Arkansas City, Kansas, and passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011. She grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where her dads family had settled after participating in the Land Run of 1889. She had one brother, James R Billings, JR, a WWII pilot, who was shot down over France. After high school, she studied to become a Registered Nurse at Wesley Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she joined the Army and was stationed at a hospital in England, across the English Channel from Normandy. She cared for many of the soldiers injured in the D Day invasion. After returning from the war, she worked at Wesley Hospital. She met Ralph Earnest Meador, through one of her nurse friends, who happened to be his sister. They were married on May 24, 1947. They had three daughters. Minnie Louise became a school nurse and worked with Oklahoma City Schools until retirement. She was also very involved in her church, West Tenth Street Baptist. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Minnie Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her husband. She is survived by her three daughter, Sandra Schwinn, and husband Mike, Broken Arrow, OK ; Dorothy Liles, Oklahoma City; and Karen Liles, and husband Jim , Jones, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Jason, Michael, and Chris Liles; Jack and Lisa Wood ; Lori Schwinn Ferrell, and husband Peter, and Erich Schwinn; and three great-grandsons, Braxton Etheridge, Silas and Noah Ferrell. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to an Alzheimers Association. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment following at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
