Millie Ann Cress died Friday September 21, 2018, after struggling with health issues for several years. Millie was born November 18, 1932 to Alexander and Nola Strickland in Booneville, Arkansas. After living in several locations in Arkansas, the family moved to Reedley, California where she graduated from the local college. She married and had two sons, Steven Tatum and Randall Tatum. Both preceded her in death. Her parents, her sisters, Arlie Clark and Estelle Hartsfield, and her brother, Tom Strickland also preceded her in death. She was employed by California state agencies until joining FAA in 1958. After serving in Fresno and Bakersfield, she was transferred to San Francisco where she met and married William Cress, also employed by FAA. With him she transferred to Boston, Washington DC, Denver and Oklahoma City where she completed a 32-year FAA career at the FAA Aeronautical Center. She worked in administration, personnel, data management, program analysis and budgeting. After retirement, for over 20 years, she was active in two Oklahoma Home and Community Education Groups, "Northwest Seekers/Council Grove" and "Bits & Bytes." She also was active in Western Oaks (DOC) and New Covenant Christian Churches (DOC). Memorial contributions to either of the churches in place of flowers is preferred. A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, October 2 at Western Oaks Christian Church, 8100 NW 23 St., OKC.
