Obituary

On October 9, 2021, Millard "Monty" Montgomery left this world for his heavenly home. He was a beloved partner, husband, and father and his absence in our lives is deeply felt. Millard was born the only son of Garnet and Eulene Montgomery on September 19, 1948. He attended school in the Rayford and Bethany communities, graduating in 1967. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1969, where he earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal in Device, a Combat Action ribbon, an RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame, and a Rifle Marksman badge. After serving three tours in Vietnam, he returned to Bethany to make his home. Millard held several occupations during his lifetime, including horse training, rodeoing, and car sales and financing. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed woodworking, and owned and operated a gift shop, Wood-n-Things, during the 1990s. During his career in the auto industry, Millard met and married Charley Earlene Stewart. They enjoyed traveling extensively and supporting the local music scene. Charley passed in 2016. In February 2019, Millard retired from Munger Paint & Wallcovering in Bethany. He moved to the Hugo Lake area with his partner Diantha Judkins, where they were in the process of building an RV campground and storage. Millard is preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his wife of 27 years, Charley. He is survived by his son, Bill Montgomery, his stepdaughter, Angela Kelley, his partner Diantha Judkins, and his many grandchildren.
