Obituary

Mildred, 87, departed this earthly world on April 16, 2017 to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was born on Oct. 17, 1928 to William and Charlotte Parkhurst. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1946 and went on to Bethany-Peniel College (now Southern Nazarene University) where she received a degree in Speech Education in 1950. She started teaching in Tangier (a one-room schoolhouse) and also taught in Oklahoma City and was an Assistant Principal and Reading Specialist in Anchorage, Alaska. She moved back to Bethany and put her teaching career on hold in order to become a full-time mother. She returned to teaching Kindergarten at Grace Christian Academy for 18 more years, where she poured out her life teaching children and training them to love God with all their hearts by serving others in love. Only eternity will reveal the scope and impact of her ministry. A long-time member of the Nazarene church, she served in many facets, including Childrens Bible Quizzing, camp and VBS director, and Missionary Chairman for the Northwest Oklahoma District. Loving, forgiving, generous, and kind she was a master seamstress, and also involved with her children and grandchildren (often at the zoo) and later, tending her garden at the Baptist Village. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joe Parkhurst; two grandchildren, Howard Frankenfield Jr., and Joshua Humble; and friend and cousin, Maxine Eagon. Most importantly, she will be remembered for being an unwavering woman of faith, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her family and friends hold fast to the promise of a great reunion in heaven, and know she is enjoying being with many friends and family there. She is survived by her two daughters, Dena Frankenfield and her husband Howard; Sharla Humble and Glen Collier, and his daughter Lyndee; and her son Charles (Bill) Humble and Cassie; four grandchildren, Karch Frankenfield, Beth Ann Frankenfield, Eddie Barnhill, Jordan Humble; and four great-grandchildren Kimberly Barnhill, Cadence Barnhill, Adelynn Barnhill and Aidyn Humble; and a host of many other family, friends, and former students.
