Michael, Dad, Poppi, Papa, Fruncle, Schmoops, #1 Son, Mikey (but only Jennifer was allowed to call him that!) friend, brother, steadfast on his knees every morning believer and Christ follower - always ready with a big hug for anyone who needed it, one in a million kind of man.
Michael was born December 16th, 1966 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Howard and Suzanne Watts. He passed away in his Bethany home on January 31st, 2021 after a 2-year battle with cancer with his loving dedicated wife by his side.
Michael was the 3rd son of Howard and Suzanne Watts, but if you asked him, he would jokingly say he was Suzannes #1 son!
He lived a life full of adventure, loving anything and everything outdoors, especially if it involved building a good fire for people to sit around. Camping, hiking, just enjoying all the beauty that God had created.
Michael was so fortunate to have a lot of close family to be around, especially his Grandma Dillow who would spoil him with chocolate milk, cinnamon toast, and pizza pie.
After his parents divorced and each remarried, he gained two additional new families that would fill his years with travels in the motorhome, get-togethers and going to Lake Eufaula.
He attended Putnam City West graduating in 1985 with friends that have remained close and would love reminiscing about their epic pranks - most famously being the masterminds behind the burning of the W in the football field their senior year before a rival game that still to this day is a kept tradition and releasing a shower of confetti at graduation from the rafters of the Cox Center. They would joke how thank goodness cell phones were not a thing then!
Most importantly, he met and started dating a beautiful green-eyed sophomore, Jenny Pitts, who became his soulmate and forever true love, later marrying in 1990. They loved making a life in Oklahoma City and Bethany on their beloved Watts Acre hosting gatherings, weddings, baby showers, fire pit nights, holidays, and birthday parties for all. If you knew them, you knew you were welcomed!
After high school, he briefly attended OSU before starting in his fathers business, Decorator Drapery Manufacturing where he worked alongside his father and his oldest brother, Mark. After Howards retirement, Mark and Michael continued to grow DDM along with their families to one of the leading drapery and upholstery workrooms in OKC, providing quality handcrafted items not only in Oklahoma but in other states as well. He loved continuing that legacy and pouring into the lives of their employees and clients over the years. He made great efforts to listen, teach, guide, and pray for or with anyone who entered the doors. Michael would tell them that no matter what was going on in their lives he wanted DDM to be a safe place to be valued, cared for and be proud of the hard work that was put in every day. He loved teaching Zach tricks of the trade, having Jenny work with him every day and the bond between he and Mark and Jennifer that only grew stronger with each passing year. Michael especially appreciated his "work wife" and workroom Supervisor Renee; they made a great team and he loved her like family!
Michael was a member of Western Oaks Christian Church, New Church and Life Church - giving each church home his dedication, sharing his talents, serving wherever needed and making everyone feel welcomed.
His greatest accomplishments though were being an incredible husband to Jenny, creating a beautiful, amazing life together. When Brandon and Emily were born, his heart exploded with joy, pride, amazement, and love as he watched them grow into the incredible adults they are today. Just when he thought he couldnt love anything more, his beloved bonus daughter Lita and Brandon grew our family to include his treasured granddaughters, his Lilly Bear, and his Shelby Shelbs - they created even more stars in the sky for him. The investment in family/framily and showing others the love of Christ is what made him so extraordinary. He was at every tournament, game, race, event for Miles Against Melanoma in honor of his niece Maddy, recital, dance, graduation, baptism, wedding, whatever he was invited to. Always front row and center, cheering on his kids, nieces and nephews and their friends. Everyone loved being around Michael.
You knew you had a place in his heart. He was the show up early, stay late, sweep the floor, plunge the toilet, fix a broken whatever kind of man.
Michael had the most genuine, kind, servant heart of anyone you would meet. He had a strong belief in treating everyone with the same respect and courtesy. He was a competitor, he loved his softball nights over the years with his Wise Guys, usually outplaying most of the players half his age. He loved a good sci-fi- but dont get him started on anything time travel - he would talk your arm off to make sure you believed his theory on the subject. He loved anything Frasier, he delighted in a good trivia game, even working on his own pub trivia game, and designing the game pieces.
His nieces, Andrea, Adrian, Megan, Ashley, and Maddy, his nephew, Zach, God Children, Taylor, Tyler and Tory, our friends kids - they all loved Michael so dearly and he loved them so unconditionally. He was the fun uncle that was always ready to play, throw a ball, whatever the kids wanted to do, he was there. He was present and intentionally wonderful.
Michael loved being in love with Jenny. She was his princess bride, and he was her Wesley. They were mushy and romantic and bonded. Early on they recognized that a marriage took three - they wanted Christ to be the center of it all. Making the commitment to choose grace, joy, forgiveness and do the work to create a legacy that hopefully would be honorable of the life they felt so very blessed and fortunate to have.
He helped care for family and friends that battled their own illness or struggles so they would be taken care of and felt comfortable, especially helping his own wife during her cancer battle.
He was so fun, so creative, so adventurous. To say he will be missed is an incredible understatement. Mr. Pyro, Mr. Fun Guy.

We are so very grateful for all of the love, support, prayers and help through these last few years. Especially the last 2 years from our kids, bonus daughter, Lita, Suzanne and Bill, Mark and Jennifer, and our devoted supper club besties, dedicated church leaders and care team at Stephenson Cancer Center as Michael battled cancer with every fiber of his being. He wasnt afraid to die, he longed to see the face of God, he just wasnt ready to leave the life that he so fully lived and loved.
