Mike was born and grew up in Auburn, New York. His parents were from the Ukraine and he was a first generation. He began grade school speaking only Ukrainian. He was the first and only son of Michael Miruski, Jr. and Sadie Zalopany, who declared at his birth that he was going to be an excellent student and graduate from college! He was deeply loved but he always knew his parents had big plans for him. He learned responsibility and developed a responsible work ethic from jobs he had from age seven through age twenty-one. He graduated from Auburn East High School, a college prep school which guaranteed graduation upon completing the rigorous curriculum admittance to any college of their choice. He sat for the prestigious New York Regents exam, which provided a scholarship to the top two students in New York State. Mike finished second and thus was admitted to Cornell University, where he completed the requirements for Civil Engineering. He also was enrolled in the ROTC training program and graduated as a second lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers. During the summer of 1953 when completing basic training for his commission, he met Ann Miruski who was to become his wife. In 1955 they were married in the Chapel at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He served two years in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1957.
His professional life involved working as a Facilities Manager for DuPont, General Electric, Honeywell, Control Data, Magnetic Peripherals and Seagate Technologies. These positions lasted from 1957 through 1998 when he retired to pursue other technology interests. A short time later, he became Vice President under an organization known as Smart Technologies until 1998, when he retired again to join his wife who was retiring from Putnam City Schools.
After his last business venture, he pursued his interest in playing bridge. He joined the Oklahoma Contract Bridge Association and during 1998 through 2015, he attained the Bronze Life Master Certification. Other hobbies and interests include: audiophile, building and testing systems and studying the history of Opera, Classical Music and Jazz. He was a sports enthusiast and had actively participated in football, basketball, baseball and golf.
Being a lifetime learner with curiosity of the technology age, he earned an MBA in Industrial Management from OCU. Rewarded as the top student, he was invited to become an adjunct professor in that program.
Aside from the above traits, he always projected a gentlemanly manner, soft voice and welcoming smile. He was a skilled and capable negotiator and was a lifetime loyal friend. He always had a twinkle in his eye when speaking about the two most important people in his life the love of his life Ann and his daughter Michele.
After two years of many physical problems and suffering, his Heavenly Father felt he had enough so He lifted him to his Heavenly Home to be united with his loved ones who preceded him and those yet to be called home.
