Obituary

Michael T. Mike McCall, born 11/15/52 in New Orleans, LA, passed 4/30/09 in Oklahoma City, OK, his home for nearly 30 years. Born the fourth of five children to William Joseph and Catherine McCall, Mike grew up in the Big Easy and loved the culture and food there, sharing it with friends in Oklahoma whenever he could find crawfish to boil. He never lost the Nawlins accent completely. Mike spent most of his working years as a paint contractor for mostly residential customers. He was truly a craftsman in his work and it showed with his amount of repeat business and referrals. Mike loved camping and fishing, especially in the White Mountains of Arizona, where we plan to scatter his ashes. Stricken with CADASIL, a rare disease that causes stroke and dementia at young ages, Mike was only 48 years old when he had the first stroke that led to his diagnosis and an eight year long goodbye. He is survived by his darling daughter, Chelsea Joyce McCall, 16, and his handsome, taller-than-his-dad son, Ian Trevor McCall, 14, both of Yukon. They are his true legacy. He also leaves behind sisters, Pat Gros of Houston, TX, Bonnie Hyer of Metairie, LA, Colleen Yandle of Newberry, SC, along with their spouses and families, and brother, Martin McCall of Albuquerque, NM as well as Jennifer Dempsey, the mother of his children, who still cared for him although they were no longer married. Terry Wilson of Midwest City, the best friend any man has ever had, also remains. A memorial service will be held for Mike at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, OK, on Friday, May 8, at 4 p.m.
