Merle Eugene Mayberry, 89, died February 28, 2017. He was born January 22, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Willard and Florene (Critcher) Mayberry. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during WWII and Korea. He was a longtime member of Springdale Baptist Church. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of Kiwanis, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, loved to read, enjoyed square dancing and watching the birds. Merle was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Lou, and sister, Dorothy. Survivors include his son, Mark and his wife Kellie; daughter, Marsha Midkiff and husband Terry; grandchildren, Rachel and Tyler Harrison, Rebekah and Chris Carriger, Katelyn Mayberry, and Kyleigh and Christian Eden; 6 great-grandchildren, Sean, Rylyn, Ezra, Alexander, William and Ridge; and sister-in-law, Lois Shrum. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Transportation Fund. Services will be Friday, March 3, 2:00pm at Springdale Baptist Church with interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
