Merce Hernandez "Papa", 84, went to be with the Lord after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer in his Oklahoma City home on April 23, 2023. He was born on November 29, 1938 in Oklahoma City to Grace Gonzales and Augustus Hernandez. He worked as a high-end chef in various restaurants, hotels, hospitals, school kitchens, catering and more. He was involved in many different clubs and organizations including multiple clown clubs and was a very active member of his church. He married Frances Hernandez on February 22, 1958. Merce was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Merce was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, and sisters as well as his children including Michael Hernandez, Angela Ochoa, and Kryss Hernandez. Survivors include his sons, Merce Hernandez Jr., Louis Hernandez, Dakota Hernandez, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The viewing will be Wednesday, May 3, with the family present at 6pm. The rosary service will be May 4th at Mercer-Adams Funeral home in Bethany, Oklahoma at 6pm. Services will be Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10am at St. James the Greater Catholic Church with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery Del City, Oklahoma. .
