Maxine terSteege, 92, passed away on August 19, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Maxine was born June 8, 1932, to Floyd and Nell (Steeds) Townsend in Oklahoma City. She lived in Bethany since 1965 and retired from the Hertz Data Center in 1996 after more than 25 years of dedicated service.

Maxine was active with the BPO Elks Lodge #417 in Oklahoma City and looked forward to playing Bingo every Saturday at the Lodge. She was formerly active in the Oklahoma Racing Association, attending dirt track racing throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas with her husband, Dutch. She also enjoyed trips to Vegas to play the slots!

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Townsend of Ames, Iowa; and her son, Jim Carr of Hennepin, Oklahoma. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Mabry of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughters, Debbie Sanders of Yukon and Donna Sciulara of Henderson, Nevada; a son, Larry Sturgeon of Oklahoma City; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces.

A family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Elks Foundation.
