Maxine Helton, 88, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on March 15, 1938, to Howard and Erma Wright in Avery, Oklahoma. She married Louis Helton on June 1, 1957.
Maxine worked as a nutritionist early in her career and spent her later years working as a church secretary at First Baptist Church in Bethany, Oklahoma.
Maxine enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, playing games and cards with family and friends, and traveling the country with Louis. She spent many years working with youth at Falls Creek Church Camp, and teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. One of Maxine's greatest pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 35 years, Louis Helton; a son, Michael Helton; her brothers, Glen Wright and "Buv" Wright; and her sister, Helen Robinson.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory Helton (Teresa) and Douglas Helton (Dee); grandchildren, Caleb (Autumn), Dakota, Marcus (Kay), and Cheyenne (David); great-granddaughters, Emma and Wrenley Helton; her sister, Linda Mulder; and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends.
Viewing will be Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, March 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Both the visitation and funeral services will take place at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, Oklahoma, with interment to follow at Bethany Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany, Oklahoma, or to a charity of your choice.
