Maxine N. Curtis was born October 23, 1923, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Roy and Mamie Collings and sister, Mildred. During her childhood, Maxine's family traveled to many places and lived in several states. In 1942, Maxine married Luther (Luke) S. Curtis. During the early years of their marriage, Maxine followed Luther in his military assignments while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. They were blessed with 3 children: Dawn, Curt, and Chris. Later, with grandchildren: Darren, Jennifer, Jamie, Andrew, and Mandy. There are seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Dane, Lillian, Anna, DeLaney, Pearson, and William. Many called her Maxine, some called her Max, but she adored it when the little ones called her "Granny Mac". Family meant a great deal to her and she was so proud of them. Preceding Maxine in death were her parents, Roy and Mamie; sister, Mildred; husband, Luther (Luke); daughter, Dawn; and grandchild, Darren. Maxine loved nature and traveling, and traveling she did, proudly visiting every state in the United States including her motor home trip to Alaska. She was able to go to Hawaii. She traveled until age 80. Maxine even worked as a camp host in various national forest park sites during her 70s. She attended Village Baptist Church and loved the music that praised God. Maxine Collings Curtis passed on to Heaven Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the age of 88. Viewing will be Monday, June 11, from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting guests from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service Chapel with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
