Max
Lonsdale
Oct 23, 1962 — Sep 10, 2026
Eugene Max Lonsdale Jr., known and loved by all as "Max," was born on October 23, 1962, to Eugene and Patsy Lonsdale.
Growing up, Max had a love for sports and competition. Whether it was baseball, football, track, basketball, or even a board game around the family table, he loved to play and was always known for finding a way to win. He spent his early childhood in Belen, New Mexico, before moving to Farwell, Texas, at the age of 12, where his passion for sports continued to grow.
In 1975, Max met the love of his life, Dondra. What began as love at first sight grew into a beautiful marriage that would span more than five decades. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and unwavering commitment to one another.
Max was an incredibly talented artist and designer. Throughout his career as a draftsman, he possessed a rare gift and was part of a generation that mastered the craft by hand, long before the convenience of modern technology. His attention to detail, creativity, and skill made him truly exceptional.
Above all, Max was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was an extraordinary provider who worked tirelessly to ensure his family was cared for and supported. Even in his final days, he could still be found mowing the lawn, tending to his garden, or working on a project around the house. There was hardly anything Max couldn't build, repair, or create with his hands. If something needed to be done, he would find a way to make it happen.
His servant's heart was evident in his dedication to his church family at Council Road. Alongside Dondra, he faithfully served in the children's ministry, particularly in the Pre-K department. Known affectionately as "Mr. Max," he had a special gift for connecting with young children. He brought order to every room with a firm but loving presence and made a lasting impact on countless children and families over the years.
More than anything, Max loved his family. He sacrificed without complaint, gave generously of himself, and leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faithfulness, and unconditional love.
Max is survived by his beloved wife, Dondra Lonsdale; his mother, Patsy Lonsdale; his sister, Peggy Stanley and family; his sister-in-law, Gayla Lonsdale; his daughters, Max Anne Steiner (Cy, Owen, Macy, and Luke) and LaDon Perales (Eric, Evie, Ryker, and Audrey); and his son, Tyler Lonsdale (Erin, Avery, Harper, Banks, and Grady).
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Lonsdale sr.; his brother, Ridley Lonsdale; and his precious granddaughter, Annie Kate.
Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the memories he gave us, the lessons he taught us, and the love he shared so freely. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the faith he faithfully lived each day.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
