Mary Ann Root passed away Sept. 14, 2014 following a brief illness. Born Sept. 20, 1936 to Jim & Ruby Lee Macarty in Oklahoma City, she moved to Houston, TX as a child and returned to Oklahoma City where she attended school. She graduated from Classen High School. She married Edmund Root in August, 1958. They had two children, Kathryn (Kathi) & James (Jim). A longtime resident of Oklahoma City, Mary Ann retired from Gulfstream Aerospace in 1992. She was a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church. A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband, Edmund of Oklahoma City; children, Kathi & John Lineback, Houston, TX, Jim & Connie Root, OKC, OK; grandchildren, Matt & Leah Lineback, Temple, TX, Nick & Kara Lineback, Houston, TX, Zach Lineback, Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Noah & Jensen Lineback, Temple, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Kelsey Lineback. Family visitation will be Wednesday Sept. 17 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at Mercer-Adams. Graveside services will be at Rose Hill Burial Park on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Metropolitan Baptist Church Missions Fund and/or the American Heart Association.
