Obituary

Mary Lou Pyburn, 78, went to be with Jesus on June 16, 2009. She was born in Foss, Oklahoma on July 23, 1930 to Ewell and Opal (Willis) Martin. A few years later, the family moved to Erick where Mary Lou attended public school and graduated with the Erick High School Class of 1948. A younger sister was added to their family in 1949 and a younger brother in 1953. Mary Lou received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany-Peniel College (now SNU) in 1952. For two years, Mary Lou was the teacher in a one-room school house located in Liberal, Kansas, where she had one or more students in each of the 12 grades. In 1955, she began a 40-year career with Local Federal Savings and Loan. It later became Local Oklahoma Bank and is now known as IBC Bank. During her tenure there, she took many banking courses from the Institute of Financial Education and was honored with a Graduate Diploma. Mary Lou was married to Jerry Pyburn for 20 years. To this union a son, Randy Alan Pyburn, was born in 1962. Randy, formerly of KFOR in Oklahoma City and NBC in New York City, is now President of Pyburn Films, also in New York City. During the past 60 years, Mary Lou has attended the reunions of the SNU Class of 1952 and Bethany First Church of the Nazarene when health permitted. She is a member of the Care and Share Sunday School Class. Mary Lou's parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Randy Alan Pyburn, of New York City; a sister, Mickey Ewelene Kluding, and husband Jerry of Shawnee, Oklahoma; a brother, John Martin, wife, Monique, and his children - Chad, Jamie and Daylon - of Hayden, Colorado; a nephew, Michael King, who resided with his Aunt Mary Lou in Oklahoma City; a niece, Sherry Clark, her husband, Chris, and their son, Michael, of Charleston, West Virginia; other loved ones and many friends. Visitation on Friday, June 19, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Mercer-Adams, 3925 North Asbury, Bethany, OK. Graveside Service and interment Sat., June 20 at 10:30 a.m. Erick Cemetery in Erick, OK (Caravan to Erick will leave Mercer-Adams at 8:00 a.m.) A Celebration of the Life of Mary Lou Pyburn Sunday, June 21, 2009, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Founders Room , The Skirvin Hilton, One Park Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK.
