Obituary

Mary Lela Monteith, 95, Oklahoma City, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 4, 2010. She was born March 1, 1916, the oldest of 5 children to Oscar and Maude Moody, Oklahoma City. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She was a longtime member of Putnam City Baptist Church and worked for Regents Jewelry Store and the Oklahoma County Treasurers Office for many years. Mary loved to dance and attended the senior citizens dances each week. She endured several injuries and illnesses with courage and determination and without complaint. Mary was a beautiful lady which was enhanced by her love of pretty clothes and fancy jewelry, both of which you never saw her without. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, Arnold Monteith, son James Monteith, and 3 brothers, Eddie Moody, Johnny Moody and Jay Moody. She is survived by son Monty and Pat Monteith, Edmond; sister Laura Moody, Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law Treva Monteith, Yukon; sister-in-law Betty Moody, Oklahoma City; 5 grandchildren, Kim and Steve Clady, Yukon, Julie Monteith, Oklahoma City, Jim and Kelly Monteith, Yukon, Doug Monteith, Chicago, IL, Meridith and Carl Phillips Edmond; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family. Viewing will be Thursday, 8am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be Friday, September 10, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
