Mary Evelyn Miller was born in Paris, Texas on August 5, 1927. She married George A. Miller in Ada, Oklahoma, on June 11, 1948. Mary Evelyn died in Oklahoma City on November 9, 2016, having lived with a firm belief that death was not the end and that one day she would leave her earthly body and awaken in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Family visitation is scheduled on Friday, November 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home. Due to homecoming events at Southern Nazarene University, the funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Bethany at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 12. The church is located at 3800 N. Mueller Avenue.
Mary Evelyn grew up in Ada, Oklahoma, and studied home economics at what is now East Central State University. She was married to her husband, George, for 68 years and whole-heartedly served her family as a wife, mother and homemaker. She had four children, 14 grandchildren, and four-great-grandchildren.
Mary Evelyn was a long-time member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. She served many years as a volunteer with Senior Adult Ministries and as a member of Southern Nazarene University Senior Adult Professionals.
Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and John Cox, and siblings, Elba Jean Latham and John Robert Cox. She is survived by her loving husband, George; sister, Lee Ann Duyck; her children, Ed Miller and wife, Lori, John Miller, and wife, Becky, Bob Miller, and wife, Karen, and Mary Ann Mosshart and husband, Rod; her grandchildren, Shae Miller-Saint Amour, Blake Miller, Quinn Miller, Heather Miller-Coleman, Hannah Leffler, Kathryn Miller, John Michael Miller, David Miller, Kelsey Miller, Lainey Miller, Celeste Miller, Evan Mosshart, Braden Mosshart, and Morgan Campbell; her great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Miller, Kendal Coleman, Max Mosshart, and Ellis Mosshart.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Legend Assisted Living on North Council for the loving care provided for her these last ten months.
