Mary Ruth (Gardner) Gay left her earthly home in Coatesville, PA to join her husband, parents and other loved ones around their heavenly campfire. Their favorite spot on this earth was near Telluride, CO. Telluride will certainly pale in comparison to their eternal campground. She was the first-born child of D.B. and Dora Lee "Dee Dee" (Hall) Gardner. Her birth was followed by the births of her two brothers, Donald Lee and John Nelson. She and her brothers were born at Wesley Hospital in Oklahoma City. Mary Ruth graduated from Classen High School. She then enrolled at OAMC in Stillwater, OK and earned her BA in Education. Her teaching career was permanently forestalled when she met and fell in love with Robert Edward Gay. They were married June 7th, 1957. Their union produced three sons to whom they were lovingly devoted: Brian Edward (Alanna) and children Marissa, Holly, Colton, Dustin, and Derick; Paul Owen (Paula) and children Jennifer, Jamie, Amy and Amanda; Phillip Stephen (Jody) and daughter Cayla. In addition are twelve great-grandchildren. Mary was skilled in crafting, quilting, oil painting, stained, etched and leaded glass design and construction, and she was a master at creating works of art with nature's bounty - pine cones, pine needles, acorns, rocks, or any of God's creations. Viewing will be Monday, March 23, 9am - 9pm, with the family present from 5 - 7pm at Mercer Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK. Services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, March 24, at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
