Obituary

Mary Vashti Dye (née Patton) was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1953. Her family moved to Oklahoma City when she was young where she would live for most of her life. Growing up she had a love for music that became a lifetime passion. She learned to play piano, and as a teenager would play DJ for her friends who frequently called her up to play the latest 45 records. As a child and an adult, she was a member of First Baptist Church Oklahoma City.

After graduating high school, Mary started a family and began a career in retail. She worked first at Eckerd's Pharmacy and later Mardel Christian and Education. Her love of music and writing continued, though. She would write and publish Christian poems and gospel songs. Mary studied her Bible frequently and enjoyed making annotations in various editions. She also enjoyed word searches and other puzzle books.

Her family will miss her off-beat sense of humor, her creativity, her encouraging words, and the way she made every holiday and birthday major events.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Rick Dye; and her parents, David Leroy Patton and G. Imogene Patton. She is survived by her two sons, Tony Cleek and Jeffrey Cleek; and her granddaughter, Harper Cleek.
