Obituary

Our loving wife and mother was born Mary Catherine Pearce in Coats, Kansas on May 28, 1934. She left us on April 10, 2012, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Her family moved to Bethany, where in 7th grade she agreed to let Val Cochran walk with her to the Coronado theater to go to the movie, that's when they held hands for the first time. They have been practically inseperable since. She and Val were married on November 1, 1952. They raised two children in Bethany, Mick and Melinda, both of whom she dearly loved and was extremely proud. Mary was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2011 and she fought courageously but lost the battle with this terrible disease with her faith in God never wavering on April 10, 2012. Mary loved birds of all kinds, if she didn't know what kind it was she would run and get the bird dictionary and find out. She also loved wild flowers, not the big ones, but the small delicate ones that most people just step over and never see. Mary worked in Bethany for Don's Pharmacy for years, always taking a personal interest in the eelderly of the area, running errands and taking care of many of them on her own time. She would always put everyone else first before herself. She loved making crocheted dish rags, and she gave these to alot of people as a gift that she knew they could use. Mary loved "The Sound of Music" and knew each song by heart. She played the piano beautifully, her children loved to hear her play and would sing with her. She and Val both engrained a deep love of music in their children. Mary was a most gracious and honest woman and always did and firmly stood behind what she thought was right. She is survived by her husband Val, her son Mick and his wife Robin, her daughter Melinds, grandchildren; Kara, Loni, Mickey, Chad and Bryce, great grandchildren; Kaylee and Jace all of whom have many good memories to carry them through. We all feel priviledged that God gave us the honor of calling Mary, Mom, Grandma and friend. We have comfort in knowing that she is watching over us all. Services will be held at Hope Church, 3100 N.
