Mary Ellen Brodbeck was born 2 Sep 1927 in Lincoln Park, MI. She was preceded in death by parents Hubert James and Margaret Parker (Wilson) Hancock and her husband of 64 years, William Charles Brodbeck. Upon graduation from Lincoln Park High, Mary Ellen worked 4 1/2 yrs. as a teller at Bank of the Commonwealth in downtown Detroit. In 1950, she married Bill her wartime sweetheart, whom she met on a Memorial Day blind date. The newlyweds moved to Buttonwillow, CA, where Bill co-owned the Buttonwillow Dusters, and Mary Ellen was involved in community groups and started their family. They moved to Albany, GA in 1966, where Mary Ellen was active in the Newcomer's and Garden Clubs. In 1975, the family moved to OKC, and Mary Ellen continued to support their activities. Mary Ellen enjoyed music, gardening, interior decorating, travel, sewing, and attending OKC Philharmonic Pops concerts, Grace United Methodist Church, La Petite Soeur Book Club, and OU football games. She was honored by Grace Church for donating the most stuffed animals (400+) over time for their Comfort Critter Program for the Highway Patrol to give to kids in crisis. Mary Ellen is survived by her sister Lois Jean and husband James Roman of MI; daughter Robin Raney of GA; son Robert Brodbeck and wife Katy of OKC; daughter Nancy and husband Gary Huang of CA; grandsons Blake Raney, Jason Huang, Jackson Brodbeck; nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen had a ready smile and greeting for all and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held 4 Nov 2014 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Wed 5 Nov 2014 2pm at Grace United Methodist OKC with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
