Mary Elizabeth Barnes, 66, of Oklahoma City went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on the evening of June 1, 2010. She will be so deeply missed by family and friends. She was born to Willie and Gladys White in Memphis, Tennessee on August 20, 1943. She moved to Oklahoma City where she married Jerry Lee Barnes on October 7, 1971. They were married nearly 39 years. Mary worked at various jobs throughout her life, and thoroughly enjoyed reading her Bible and attending church when she was able. She always displayed tremendous compassion toward other people and, at times, neglected her own needs to help others. She was much loved by many and will never be forgotten. Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Norma Bowen, she is survived by her husband Jerry; daughter Apryl Pogue of Bethany; son Freddie Leonardi of Houston, Texas; daughter Angie Thomasson of Oklahoma City; step-daughters Tana McMichael of Guthrie and Traci Green of Lawton; siblings Dunnie White, Richard White, Dorothy Phillips, Shirley Hamilton and Charles White; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 5, 10:00 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
