Mary Lou Avery died peacefully on May 22, 2015 after a full and joyful life. She was born in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of the late William F. Schmausser and Helen Houston Schmausser. Mary Lou moved to Oklahoma City in 1953 and became active within the community. Her civic memberships included Oklahoma City Philharmonic Society, The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City Orchestra League, Oklahoma Art League, Oklahoma Museum of Art, Oklahoma Mental Health Association, and Canterbury Choral Society. She was a former member of the Presbyterian Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, serving as its president; a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, and a long standing member of All Soul's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela and her husband, Cleveland M. Welsh II; her son, Robert H. Wootten and his wife Laura; her son, Robert D. Avery and his wife Kay; her grandchildren, Cap Welsh, Richard K. Wootten, Catherine Wootten, Katherine Avery Guillot and her husband Thomas, William M. Avery II, and Lindsey Maree Avery, and her brother, William F. Schmausser, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Avery and her grandson, Boomer Welsh. The family wishes to thank Laura Lynn's Home Care, and her caregivers, Porfie, Lucy and Kalisha for all they did for her. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, May 30, 2015 at All Souls' Episcopal Church.
