Marvita loved God and life and she encouraged others. She was transparent and guileless. She was grateful to God, helpful and generous, and her actions were purposeful. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Marvita McGuire, Ph.D., age 69, went home to walk more directly with her God.
Marvita Daline McGuire was born in Tulsa, OK on November 7, 1950 to Roy Marvin McGuire and Dallas Lorene (Stephens) McGuire. She graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1969 and spent much of her life in Tulsa.
In high school, she participated in the concert chorus, and was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, a mathematics honor society. She traveled to labs across Oklahoma supervising students and working with Red Cross blood banking. Marvita was a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and presented the plenary address at the Oklahoma Academy of Science Annual Meeting in 2005. She was a faithful participant in Alcoholics Anonymous for over 26 years.
