Obituary

Marvin Tester, 79, was born in Gilmore, KY to Cortney and Josephine Tester. Marvin left this earth December 10, 2010, leaving behind the love of his life, Jewell. The two were inseparable and were married for 56 years. They had three daughters and one son: Regeana Buchanan (Richard), and their children Anthony, Lee, Elizabeth, Claire, Buck and Gray; Susan Spencer, and her children Deborah, Jennifer, Charles, Hannah and Catherine; Tammara Sanders, and her children Trevor and Shane; and Dwayne Tester, and his children Rashelle, Ryan and Evan. Marvin has four sisters: Dorthy Rose, Shirley Spurlock (Tom), Frankie Harris, and Ruthie Price (Dwayne). He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bob, Paul and Denny Tester. Marvin served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Sgt. in the Army infantry. He spent 40 years as an electrical engineer for General Motors and found time to graduate from college. After retirement, he moved from Michigan to N. Carolina and finally to Kentucky. He enjoyed working on the three houses he owned and trading in the stock market. He was highly esteemed and respected in his community for his dedication and readiness in helping those in need. But, his true love and passion was his wife, Jewell. They spent most of their time together and, as he grew older, he spent more and more time with his grown children and their families which he was always proud of and loved tremendously. We have lost a great and irreplaceable man in which God has now gained to His service. He will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be Saturday, December 18, 2:00 p.m. in Resurrection Cemetery.
