Marvin A. Peterson was born 12/20/22 in Udall, KS and died 8/10/19 in Yukon, OK. He lived with his parents and brother on the family farm until graduating from high school. He then came to Bethany Peniel College ( now Southern Nazarene University) for one year before joining the Army Air Corps where he served with the weather observer squadron in the far north. After WWII ended, Marvin returned to B.N.C. where he completed a degree, then on to Central State where he majored in Industrial Arts, and eventually to O.U. for his M.A. degree. During this time, he had married Clara Jean Smith and embarked on a career in education. At Bethany High School, he became the first "shop teacher", then advanced to principal where "Mr. Pete" served the next ten years. His last position was at Canadian Valley Vo Tech as an administrative assistant where he immensely enjoyed the new challenges and direction. In 2006, he was inducted into the Bethany Public Schools Hall of Honor a real highlight of his retirement years. Marvins zest for life will be remembered by all who knew him over the years biking with the Wrinkle Riders, ski trips every winter after retirement, seven trips to Europe (including skiing and parachuting in the Alps). But the part of his life that matters most: he was a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend, and faithful follower of Christ, and was a devoted member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Marvin is survived by his son, David Peterson of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, C.J.; his only brother, Leonard, who died following kidney transplant surgery in which Marvin was the donor. Marvin and C.J. moved to Yukon in 2004 and greatly enjoyed the last part of their lives together in Spanish Cove, a retirement community. Viewing will be Tuesday, August 13 from 9am-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be at 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 14, in Mercer-Adams Chapel. No flowers memorial gifts to Marvin & Clara Jean Peterson Scholarship Fund at Southern Nazarene University.
