Marvin Ray
Lackey
Jan 9, 1938 — May 17, 2026
Marvin Ray Lackey, age 88, of Oklahoma City, departed from this world on May 17th, 2026 in Oklahoma City in the comfort of his home. He was born on January 9th, 1938 in Selma, California to parents Arthur Lee and Elsie Alma Lackey. He grew up on the family farm in Hinton, OK and attended Geary Schools where he graduated in 1956. Shortly after, the family moved to El Reno where he met Mary Sue Bruce at Job's Drive In and later married in Chickasha, OK on March 27th, 1961. From this union came Michael, Rhonda, and Darin.
Marvin was a member of the Army National Guard and worked for the Rock Island Railroad for a number of years before the family moved to the Oklahoma City area where he worked for Fleming Food for 40 years. Marvin kept a thriving garden and would give anyone as much as they would let him. This is one of the ways he continued to provide for those around him including family and neighbors alike. You could always count on him to make his famous peanut brittle and fudge around the holidays, which he happily shared with all. He was also known to be a fixer. If there was something broken or not working right, there would be no doubt that Marvin would find a way to fix it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Elsie; brothers Donnie and Kenneth; sisters Maxine and Lois; wife, Mary; and his eldest son, Mike.
Most of the world knew him as Marvin, but some of the people he loved most called him Dad, Pops, Grandpa, Poopa, and Bud. These people he leaves his legacy to include daughter Rhonda Roberts and husband Mike, son Darin Lackey and wife Marsha; Grandchildren Jennifer Thomas and husband Josh, Sean Roberts and wife Chrystal, Alisha Beleele and husband Coley, Scott Roberts, Brandon Lackey, and Cameron Stevens; Great-Grandchildren Gideon, Uriah, Cohen, Braxton, Nolan, Ameerah, and Calliope; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Last, but certainly not least, the beloved companion of his later years, Oreo.
