Born and raised in Bethany, Oklahoma to Marvin E. Goforth Sr. and Betty Louise Goforth. He attended Bethany schools and graduated with honors in 1962.
Marvin graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1967, with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. As a practicing pharmacist in the state of Oklahoma for 50 years, he served in both retail and state service. During his pharmacy career, he attended the University of Missouri and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1973. Before graduating from the University of Missouri, he married his love, "Candy Pandy" in 1970. Marvin joined the United States Army after graduation, and practiced dentistry while stationed in Mons, Belgium. After the birth of their daughter, Gretchen Michelle, the couple returned to the States to Kansas City, where he taught at the University of Missouri Dental School. In 1978, they moved back home to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to be close to family & start a dental practice. The birth of their son, Tobie Colin in 1980 completed the family.
Marvin enjoyed photography and developed his 35mm film of his European travels into numerous slideshows. He was an avid music lover and shared digital music compilations with all his friends and family as a music ministry. Many a fall weekend was spent cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners and other sports teams with his family. Marvin loved the Lord Jesus. His kind and compassionate spirit led him to help others through his dental practice and even travel to Honduras on a mission trip. Marvin was quick-witted, a master of words, and always had a movie liner or lyric to make you smile!
