Obituary

Our beloved, Marvin A. Conway, 85, of Bethany, OK, passed away October 5, 2018. He was born on July 24, 1933 in Anadarko, OK to Timothy and Clara (Schettler) Conway. Marvin was adopted at age 2 by his godparents, Bill and Cecilia (Doebel) Schettler after the loss of his parents. After graduation from Our Ladys High School in Sterling, OK, he did farm work and construction. Marvin entered the US Army in May 1954, serving 18 months in Germany. Following his discharge in May 1956, he attended Spartan School in Tulsa. While there, he met Jean L. Robisch at a Catholic activities polka dance. They were married in Tulsa on May 9, 1959. Marvin started his 38-year career with FAA in 1958 in Oklahoma City. He graduated from OCU with a BA in Electronics in 1966. Marvin was a man of great faith, a devoted husband, and loved his family. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and many camping trips at Lake Eufaula and Colorado. He enjoyed growing his own grapes and making wine with his friend, Al, volunteering at St. Charles Dorothy Day Center, and his many years of bowling.One of his biggest hobbies was gardening and he grew an acre of vegetables every year for forty years. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors so much that he had "The Land," where he spent most of his last seventeen years. He was "Mr. Fixit," who built his familys home in 1970 and built the family cabin on his land in 2015. Marvin loved life like no other and loved to laugh and crack jokes.Marvin was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Beauchamp and husband Emmett; brothers, Timothy Conway and wife Mary Ann, Alvin Conway and wife Judy, Patrick Conway and wife Aileen; godparents (mom and dad), Bill and Cecilia Schettler; brother, Reverend Charles H. Schettler; and sister, Myrtle Wooldridge and husband Sylvester. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of 59 years; three sons, Philip G. Conway, Paul T. Conway and wife Deanna, and Patrick A. Conway and wife Brenda; three daughters, Ruth A. Nguyen and husband Thai, Rita M. Conway and Andre Doveton, Renee L. Wiebe and husband Dave; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Griggs Jackson and husband Daniel, Meghan Griggs and fianc Bradford Oliva, Jason Conway, Sarah Conway, Anna Conway, Thomas Conway, Christopher Conway, Dawson Wiebe and Capri Wiebe; one great- granddaughter, Louisa Ruth Jackson, sisters-in-laws, Phyllis Robisch and Patricia Conway; and brother-in-law, Daniel Hausher. Family visitation will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, OK on Wed. October 10 from 5-6:30pm with a Rosary following. Funeral mass will be Thursday, October 11, 10:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with interment in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church or The Meadows Center for Opportunity, Inc.
