Obituary

Martha Sue Logan Shire, 81, died on November 27, 2020. She was born November 18, 1939 in Crosbyton, TX to parents G.H. and Ethel Finch Logan. Martha attended Hereford, TX schools and graduated from Corunna High School in Corunna, MI. She married Allen Stanley Shire on December 15, 1957 in Hereford, TX, and together they raised three sons. Marthas priority in life was family, and foremost was her faithful and attentive care for her husband during his many years of disability. Marthas life was a blessing wherever she lived Crosbyton, TX ; Pacifica, CA; Corunna, MI; Durand, MI; Hereford, TX; Irving, TX; Pflugerville, TX; Maineville, OH; and Oklahoma City, OK. In those cities her favorite pastime was participating in sports, but especially watching her sons compete. As grandchildren came along, she supported them in all their activities and also loved just hanging out with them. Marthas professional side included working in sales and marketing for Woodard Furniture, being a legal secretary in Hereford, Dallas, and Austin, TX, and serving as a public information officer for the Department of Energy. In her later years, she operated Senior Helpers, a business that ensured the well-being of senior citizens through providing assistance with needs from healthcare and daily tasks to legal services. She was a longtime member of Hereford, TX Church of the Nazarene and in recent years was a member of Bethany, OK First Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a son, Allen Dean Shire. She is survived by a sister, Genia Logan Blanchard of Georgetown, TX and her husband Jim; two sons, Jeffrey Don Shire and wife Katie of Maineville, OH, and Todd Derek Shire and wife Lezli, of Oklahoma City, OK; and six grandchildren, Stephanie Sue Shire, Bailey Adam Shire, Dylan James Shire, Nathaniel Allen Shire, Savannah Faith Shire, and Kian Michael Shire. The family would like to thank Centennial Hospice and extend extra special gratitude to Shannon and Pam for their attentive and tender care of Martha, especially over the past eight months when we were not allowed to be with her due to quarantine. Viewing will be 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Monday, November 30, with family present from 5:00- 6:30 pm. The funeral service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N.
