Obituary

HEIDEBRECHT, MARTHA L., Bethany, OK, passed away Sept 5, 2015 surrounded by love. She was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Corn, OK to Peter & Lizzie Fischer and grew up on a wheat farm there with one sister and two brothers. She graduated high school as valedictorian at Corn Bible Academy and then attended some college at Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS. She met her husband, Allen, in Corn, OK, fell in love and they were married Dec. 18, 1945 and celebrated 50 years of marriage on Dec. 18, 1995. Allen passed away in 1996 at age 76. She worked for Putnam City High School making delicious cinnamon rolls and bread. Later she worked for Ballengers Furniture keeping the store in beautiful order. She loves her family dearly and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her prayers for all of us have meant so much. She expressed her love for nature over and over by exclaiming "God has made everything so beautiful." She loved filling her porch with spring flowers, gardening, reading fiction listening to music, especially gospel and singing. She loved her 3 yr old cat Blackie who appeared on her porch a scrawny stray and she took him into her home and she loved him into a big beautiful cat who gave her such joy. She started singing solos accapella at 88, new for her, and did so beautifully several times at her church, also at her 90th birthday celebration with friends and family. She was a member of Western Oaks Mennonite Brethren Church in Bethany until it closed. She started attending Williams Memorial Nazarene Church near her home in Bethany and became a member, enjoying so many years there. Martha is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Helton & husband Mel, grandchildren Todd Helton and Jennifer Helton, OKC, daughter JoAnn Curry & husband David, Muncie, Indiana, grandchildren Charles Curry, Delaware, Angie Mars, Illinois, Chris Curry, Los Angeles and David's son from a previous marriage, Davey, Indianapolis. Son Jim Heidebrecht & wife Elaine, Bethany. She was preceded in death by her son, Dale Heidebrecht, in 1969 while serving with the Marines in Vietnam, her parents, her brother Edwin Fischer & wife Ethel, brother John Fischer, sister Evelyn Wiebe & husband Arthur. In state for viewing at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home Tuesday & Wednesday, Sept. 8 & 9, 2015. Family visitation will be Wednesday, 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 at Williams Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Bill Kalfas officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, OKC.
