Obituary

Martha Ann DaLee Haidek

October 14, 1932 - October 11, 2024

Adventurous Lady of Oklahoma City, OK

Martha left this earthly plain on October 11, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the eldest daughter of Mary Evelyn DaLee and Minton DaLee. With bright eyes and a curious mind, Martha enjoyed her years in school, where she met and made many friends. She graduated high school at the age of seventeen and started college where she ended up meeting the man that would become her husband, Thomas Nash Haidek. They both had a connection but also were very pragmatic and real about their relationship. They knew that if they were going to get married that it would be for the long haul as that was one of the stipulations set up by him at that time. Her mother was against her getting married, but being as headstrong as Martha was, she and Tom were bound and determined to make it work. Their marriage was the end, albeit temporarily, to her college career. She did not continue her college education until later in life (after being married for years with an adult child and recently born grandchild in her life). She graduated from what was then Central State University with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Her thirst for knowledge and new experiences led Martha down many paths, some short and some long. She has been a business co-owner, a surveying equipment saleswoman, a bookkeeper, a secretary, a member of the Oklahoma City Junior Chamber of Commerce (partly through her husband), a seamstress, and a writer. She was also a member of D.A.R. in addition to being a member of an Apple computer user's group for a few years. However, if asked she would probably say her best personal and professional accomplishments would be being a writer and published author, a genealogist and Apple, Inc stockholder. This is in addition to being strong in her faith, and that she loved her family.

As mentioned, Martha married Thomas "Tom" Nash (Tom) in 1950 and they welcomed their only son, Thomas Nash, Jr. just after their anniversary in January, 1951. Some have said that Martha had a strong will; she surely must have had one as she was preceded in death by her parents; her younger sister; her son, Tommy, who died in February 1998; her husband, Tom, who passed away in December, 2012; and her daughter-in-law, Leslie, who passed away in January, 2018.

Martha is survived by her lone grandson, Thomas Anthony Haidek, as well as cousins found in shared genealogy that brought a smile to her face; Sharon Harp, Dianne DaLee and Donna Spencer. She also has many friends that will love and cherish their memories of her.

Services for Martha will be on October 18, 2024 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service Chapel in Bethany, OK. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City.
