Marsha Joanne Gilliland was born on August 6, 1945, in Lindsay, California, to Ponder and Floy (Cantrell) Gilliland. Being a "preachers kid", she lived many places growing up: Dinuba, California; Bakersfield, CA; Calgary, Alberta, Canada; San Antonio, TX; Little Rock, AR; Kansas City, MO; Torrance, CA; and Long Beach, CA.
After graduating from Millikan High School in Long Beach she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley and later received a degree in counseling.
Marshas gifts and skills were in the designing aspects of the computer industry. She had her own successful company before working for the Intel Corporation for over 22 years. She was known throughout the corporation for her ability to solve difficult problems. She always had a longing to be a missionary, and her Daddy told her that maybe Intel was her mission field.
Marsha tried other religions and paths for many years but always came back to Jesus, returning to the faith of her family. She was deeply and unapologetically passionate about her relationship with Jesus Christ and fearless in telling others about Him.
She loved being involved with missions spending one sabbatical in India ministering to women who had been trafficked; another sabbatical in Sri Lanka after the devastating tsunami helping residents who had lost everything recreate their photo IDs.
Marsha also joined Heart to Heart International on trips to Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan, and with Kay Arthur Ministries to Israel.
In her 10 years here in Oklahoma she developed deep and cherished friendships with the ladies in her Friday prayer group, the Cornerstone Sunday School Class, and a group of friends who were a delight to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ponder and Floy Gilliland; sister, Glaphre Gilliland; brother, Ron Gilliland, and sister-in-law, Lin Gilliland. She is survived by her sister, Sheri Gilliland of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Verlyn Gilliland of Newberry, MI; nieces, Christa (Chad) Reese of Terre Haute, IN, Cara Kime (Nathan) of Terre Haute, IN; and great nieces and nephews, Damien Reese (Jasmine), Chelsey Reese, Olivia Reese Guerrero (Juan), Vivien Reese, Kaylee, Jonah, Mya and Grace Kime; and a host of cousins and friends.
