Mark Allen Wallraven, 55, of Bethany, OK, passed away October 3, 2015. He was born February 28, 1960 to Alvin and Mary Nell (Bloom) Wallraven. An Eagle Scout recipient, he was also a member of the honor society and served as junior class president at Putnam City West High School. He was honored by the Free Masons with the Student of Today award. Mark loved academia. He attended Baylor University and UCO, receiving an associate's degree in psychology and graduating with a bachelor's degree in sociology/chemical dependency. While at UCO, he was on the President's Honor Roll, Governors Honor Roll, Deans Honor Roll, Student of the Year, and recipient of the Elizabeth A. Berger CDS award. He served on the Governors Blue Ribbon Task Force for substance abuse, was the Stay & Consortium committee coordinator and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society. Mark was the lecture adjunct on ethics in a therapeutic environment (series 6 week). In his affiliation with OK network for Multicultural Services, he was the guest lecturer at DHS, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Director, DHS liason, and OMHP individual, family and group counseling. Mark worked in case management (out-patient) with mentoring and independent living programs. He presented statistical analysis on research demonstrating correlation between mental health and substance abuse. He created a master's thesis in his undergraduate program regarding a formula in social theory to predict success/failure in the individual, cultural and societal realms. Mark had a playful side and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed football, watching Thunder basketball, playing the piano, and watching episodes of Gunsmoke, John Wayne and criminal shows. An avid reader, he loved philosophy and reading old westerns. He had a passion for old time country music, but he enjoyed every gendre of music. Mark was the most honest, caring person anyone could meet. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, including his two adored pugs, Eli and Elle. Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara; two sons, Corum and Brayden; mother, Mary Nell; brother, Hank; and granddaughter, Kaisley. Viewing will be Wednesday, 12-9pm, with family present from 5:30-7:30pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Thursday, October 8, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Resthaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Mark's name to OMRF.
