Obituary

Mark Keith Stewart passed from this life on January 23, 2021 after a brief illness. We rejoice in knowing he is whole and reunited with many family members that have gone before him. Mark was born into the loving family of Kenneth and Iva Stewart on April 17, 1963 in Lake Charles, LA. where his father was stationed with the US Air Force. After moving with the USAF to Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Many, LA and Ft. Walton Beach, FL, the Stewart family settled in Bethany, OK which was Marks home until his death. Mark attended Putnam City Schools from kindergarten through high school graduation, including two elementary schools, Lake Park and Overholser, followed by Western Oaks Jr. High, then graduating from Putnam City West High School in 1981. He was a lifelong member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Always proud of his military heritage, he enlisted in the USAF some time after graduation, and was trained as a firefighter, serving in the same branch of service as his father. Mark was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 9 years and was working in the downtown Oklahoma City IRS office at the time of the Murrah Bombing in 1995. This experience had a deep emotional impact on him for many years. Mark enjoyed many things throughout his life; his many vehicles, 80s music, good stories, hearty laughs, his many dogs, and lifelong friendships, as well as his family and extended family. He could easily have a good laugh at someone elses expense, but he always had a tender heart and would cry easily when he was deeply touched. The last four years of Marks life were some of his happiest as he enjoyed his travels across the country, taking in the many sights through the windshield of his 18-wheeler. He had a lot of time and many miles to reflect on his life, his relationships, and, most importantly, his relationship with his Savior. Many of his friends and family enjoyed his travels and random thoughts as he shared them through social media. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Iva Stewart, and, more recently, his niece Abby Mosshart Brobston. Grandparents, Clarence and Leona Stewart and Azah and Nora Strickland also preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Micah Keith Stewart, Micahs wife Kayla, and beloved grandson Quinten. Also survived by his older brother Rod Stewart; older sister, Marcia Mosshart, husband Tim; younger sister, Nancy Summers, husband Todd. Niece, Kendi Mosshart Proctor, husband Austin; nephew, Stewart Summers; and Abbys husband, Michael Brobston. Great nephews and nieces, Rhett, Reese and Reagan Brobston, and Si and Birdie Proctor, along with extended family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Marks honor to Celebrate Recovery at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. .
